Wuerl lied for Father Cipolla in 1988 and paid $900,000 to Tim Bendig to buy his silence in 1994

Pittsburgh Catholic Clergy and their Bishop covered up damning information that could have changed the course of history in the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese 40 years before the Pennsylvania Grand Jury discovered the Truth in 2018. They didn't want to embarrass the Church so they (threw the victims under the bus...by totally ignoring the victims and by perjury and deceit, protecting the child molester) Never allowing the pervert to be brought to justice.

Pittsburgh's clergy exposed. Wuerl and Cipolla found Guilty, Patrick A Pontillo implicated in coverup of Fr Cipolla's Crimes

12-23-2019  reworked to be easily understood.

Cardinal Wuerl "The Hero Prince of the Roman Catholic Church" owes Catholics who believed and supported and trusted him a most humble apology for the betrayal and lies he "Blessed" Pittsburgh and all of Pennsylvania with.  What damage will we find in D.C.??  Or was there enough time to bury it, before he stepped down?  How far back does his deceit go?  1978 maybe?

Mr. Pontillo is still trying to peddle that hogwash he publishes with claims that Father Anthony J. Cipolla was innocent of all three criminal charges of (Sexual assault on three young boys on  separate occasions??)  One boy was assaulted at Cipolla's pleasure for five years.  He was the third child who called the police, when he turned 18.  My sons were the first two children to call the police and report that priest.  They were 8 and 12 years old. The incidents were buried and the priest, Father Anthony J Cipolla was never brought to justice because the Bishops made arrangements with the Pittsburgh District Attorney to close down the investigation and expunge the records.

Patrick Pontillo's unwanted harassment of my family and our good name, just to cover-up for a child molester friend of his. It's unconscionable.  Anthony J Cipolla ex-priest made a fool of Patrick Pontillo by lying and blaming others for his many failures.  He was a loser with a few friends in the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese and elsewhere that covered for him and his sexual perversions. Fr. Cipolla was sent for a psychiatric evaluation in 1978, after he molested my sons.  The Diocese of Pittsburgh was cautioned (not to let Fr Cipolla work or minister to children.)  What did they do?  They made him Chaplain of a school for exceptional and handicapped boys.  I couldn't believe it when I found out.

P.S.  Mr. Pontillo, "Stop" threatening me...

News UPDATE!!!!

Pontillo, tell us what you know about The Boys from St. Bernard's.  I understand they were more of Rev. Cipolla's
young victims.  If they were anywhere close to 8 years old to 13 years old, there's a distinct possibility that they are as they claim...Cipolla's Victims.

The fact that Father Anthony Cipolla was finally exposed by the Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report in 2018 as a Pedophile who was arrested and charged in 1978 but the entire case was covered up.  It made us look like villains for picking on a poor parish priest. What BULL?!

The following story going around was all Fr. Cipolla's fabrication.  Something Patrick Pontillo and he made up. They gave several excuses for why Cipolla had to be "innocent" of any crime. One excuse was that I was so dumb, I didn't know the difference between a physical examination and an oral examination and wrongly accused him.
He came up with that excuse, years later...when he was arrested for what finally led to chronic child molestation and rape of an alter boy 12 yrs. old until he was 17 yrs. old.
Again, the Pittsburgh Diocese stepped in and settled with the boy victim and his Attorney in an out of court settlement of $900,000.  Once again Father Cipolla's Crimes were washed away this time by Wuerl.  Fr Cipolla  was able to operate with the same impunity as he was on in 1988.  He was ordered to seek treatment for his problem in 1994 but he refused to comply.  He should have been locked up!!

Fr. Cipolla has lied to everyone, blamed everyone for his trials and tribulations...and he actually had a following.  "The Rev. Anthony Cipolla Is Innocent Group." They listened to his Lies and Homilies and Believed.  They read his "Thorns and Roses"
publications and they donated to his "Padre Pio Spiritual Refuge" which had no affiliation what so ever to the real "Padre Pio Refuge Charity" at the time. The donations went directly to his coffers.

Below is a piece I copied and cut today...12-27-18
written by Patrick Pontillo.πŸ”»πŸ”»πŸ”»

Wuerl was headlined as the bishop who fought the Vatican to remove  "a
molester priest," when the fact is that he only attempted to have the priest
removed from ministry for what was later called a misdiagnosis of Depress-
ion and Suicidal Tendencies.  The priest was never arrested, yet Wuerl let
the papers claim that the priest was.  In fact, that priest, Anthony Cipolla,
received a favorable Pennsylvania State Police background check security
clearance in the Summer of 2014, where within it was stated that Cipolla
has NO ARREST RECORD in the State of Pennsylvania.  For those of
you who are brain dead, Cipolla's 2014 security clearance of a huge deal.
πŸ”ΊπŸ”ΊπŸ”Ί
Bishop Wuerl was trying to cover for "Cipolla's" Sex Charges
by saying Cipolla's problems were Depression & Suicidal
Tendencies.  Wuerl was trying to cover-up the Pedophelia.

The only reason Anthony Cipolla received a favorable
Pennsylvania State Police Background Check in 2014 is
because of Bishop Leonard and Cardinal Wright's Cover-up of Cipolla's criminal record in 1978... With the help of the
Pittsburgh District Attorney and the Magistrate they Expunged
Anthony Cipolla's record and destroyed it then they covered it up. That is why there was no prior record available anywhere and Fr. Cipolla got a reprieve.  Thanks to the Bishop's and Cardinal's intersession.

Ten years later Fr Cipolla was caught again for sexual molestation on a child of 12 until the age of 17.
Again the powers that be settled out of court this time with the boy and his Attorney for close to a million dollars.

Fr. Cipolla's record was wiped clean again. That sick and phony pervert got to enjoy his perversions for 44 years, thanks to the mandate by the Holy See.
It bound each diocese to cover-up and deny victim allegations or pay them off and require the agrieved to sign (Non Disclosure Agreements)

Fr. Cipolla and his partner  Pontillo harassed us from 2002 until 2016. With the death of Rev. Anthony Cipolla, the slander is solely by Patrick A. Pontillo. He blogs about my family as  punishment for testifying to the Grand Jury against
Rev. Cipolla for rape and child molestation and corruption of
the morals of a 9-year-old boy, and 12-year-old boy. My Sons!!

BELOW  Patrick Pontillo's words...
πŸ”»πŸ”»πŸ”» This triple cover-up also shows Wuerl's motive in letting Anthony Cipolla
be the public scapegoat whose reputation was completely annihilated, de-
spite the overwhelming evidence of Cipolla being the opposite of the media
smear campaign launched against him.  You see, DA John C. Pettit publicly
stated, (and I am going by memory on this quote, meaning that it is to be re-
garded as paraphrased:  "I don't want to make this look like a witch hunt, but
we would be sticking our heads in the sands to think that this is an isolated
incident."  This meant that there would be more investigating . . . there was
to be more "snooping around," "looking around," "scrutinizing."  So, Wuerl
needed a diversionary tactic, to pursuade the law enforcement personnel in
more than one sovereign state involved to be deceived into thinking that
Wuerl was a staunch "zero tolerance" leader.  Wuerl was proven to be
no such person.

Looking for more Rev. Cipolla Victims...Time to shed some light on "Pittsburgh's Teflon Priest."  Again Pontillo...Rev. Cipolla was a perverted individual who played us all for fools. He never cared about anyone but himself. He was "The" genuine narcissist.
He was an actor.  He was playing a part he was trained to perform and he was good at it... He played "The Little Padre" and fleeced his flock every chance he got...  Cipolla did it to get favors and money and holdings as donations to help support his Charity, it's a skill and Rev. Cipolla had skills.
To be a Good Catholic you must have unquestionable absolute faith in your religion.  To do that you tend to have absolute faith in the clergy as well.  We're Catholic, we didn't question The Clergy...and that was a mistake.

Mr. Pontillo,
Please stop the slander you post about us.  Rev. Cipolla was never wrongfully accused.  He was even planning for my 7 yr. old son too.  Read the Grand Jury Report!
It's over now...no words can hide his guilt anymore.  I believed in him once and it was the biggest mistake I ever made.  I've been paying for it since 1977...that's 41 years Pontillo.

I have noticed that you still post those dirty lies about us and you give favorable reviews for Fr. Anthony J Cipolla.  He molested my sons and other peoples sons and got away with it...here on earth but
he's dancing on hot coals now.  (For all his lies and warped sexual desires.) Diana...

Summary of Allegations Against Father Anthony J. Cipolla:

According to a multitude of documents subpoenaed from the Diocese of Pittsburgh, Father Anthony Cipolla was accused of sexual assault multiple times throughout his career and was constantly being moved to different parishes. The first accusations against him occurred in 1978. The victims were brothers, the first of which was 9 years old and the second was 12. Their mother called the Pittsburgh Police Department after they came home crying and finally confessed to her what had occurred, even though they said they had been forced to swear on a Bible that they wouldn’t tell anyone. After the police responded, the first victim was examined at the hospital where personal lubricant was found in his underwear.
The first victim told the Grand Jury that Cipolla had given him a “physical examination” and required that he take all of his clothes off. He said that he sat on Cipolla’s lap while he reached around and fondled and squeezed the victim’s penis. The victim also reported that Father Anthony Cipolla had inserted his finger into the victim’s anus. The priest then told him that it would be a sin to tell anyone about what he had done to the victim. He also said that Cipolla had performed similar acts on him around 3 weeks prior and that he told the victim he did the same thing to his brother and “the doctor would charge $60 for this.”

Detectives interviewed the second victim, who was the brother of the first victim. He said the abuse occurred in the summer of 1977. Cipolla told the victim’s mother that they would not have to pay for a required physical if she sent the boy to the rectory so he could perform the exam. Cipolla then told the second victim to remove all of his clothing. He took the boy’s blood pressure and listened to his heart with a stethoscope, then inserted his finger into the boy’s rectum.  This victim did not tell his parents because he thought it was just part of the physical exam.

Later in 1978, Cipolla admitted to giving the boys examinations but said that he never told them to take off all of their clothes and he did not insert his finger into the first victim’s anus nor fondle his penis. Instead, he said that he was doing their family a service by performing the physical exams at no cost.

Detectives got an arrest warrant for Father Anthony J. Cipolla after speaking with the mother of the two victims, who wanted to press charges. The charges were dropped after the family was intimidated and harassed by Diocese attorneys who told her to “let the church handle it.” The attorneys yelled at the victims, telling them that they would have to testify in front of many people and that they would “tear [their] testimony apart.” The Diocese attorney then told the mother that she was just going to embarrass her children if she let them testify. He then asked her why she wanted to “hurt the church.” The prosecutor wanted her to sign an agreement that would expunge the charges against Cipolla but bring the charges back up if he did anything like this again within the next 10 years.

In addition, Cipolla himself called their home and showed up at their house to try to speak with the first victim and get the family to drop the charges. Members of the community also harassed the family. Their car windows were shot out, a car tire was slashed, an apartment window was broken, and the first victim was slapped in the face and told he was “telling lies on a poor blessed priest.” The family also received threatening letters and phone calls. This harassment caused the family to move out of Pennsylvania.

In 2017, the first victim testified before the Grand Jury. He described his abuse, how he felt something was wrong during the exams, and how the abuse affected him later in life. He also recalled how upset his mother had been at the time. The second victim also recounted his abuse in front of the Grand Jury.

When the charges were dropped in 1978, Cipolla was reassigned to St. Canice where he abused another boy. In 1988, the third victim came forward and described being inappropriately touched by Cipolla when he was an altar boy at St. Canice. The priest would put talcum powder all over his body and hug him when they were in the same bed. The police were not informed. Later in 1988, the third victim reported the abuse to the Beaver County District Attorney’s Office.

Bishop Wuerl ordered Cipolla to undergo a psychological examination at St. Luke Institute, a notorious treatment facility for pedophile priests located in Suitland, Maryland. St. Luke’s recommended that Father Anthony J. Cipolla “not have any ministry which involves children.” It was also recommended that Cipolla go to St. John Vianney Hospital, another treatment facility for pedophile priests located in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Cipolla did not comply with this recommendation and instead went to St. Michael’s Institute in New York City, a treatment center of his choice which was not church-approved.  St. Michael’s staff wrote a report on Cipolla that completely contradicted everything that St. Luke’s staff had said about him. Cipolla then hired an attorney, who wrote a request to Bishop Wuerl asking that Cipolla be reassigned to another parish.

In 1989, Cipolla changed his mind and agreed to go to St. John’s. Three weeks later, he asked if he could serve in another diocese. Wuerl told him that he would have to tell the Bishop of his new diocese about his history of sexual abuse. Cipolla continued to ask for reassignment, though he still refused to be examined at St. John’s. All of his requests were denied. While this was happening, Father Cipolla was presenting himself as a priest in good standing. He did not stop doing this even when Wuerl told him this behavior had to cease. In 1992, the third victim filed a civil lawsuit against Cipolla.

After a back-and-forth with the Vatican, Cipolla was officially ruled as no longer being a priest in good standing. Cipolla continued to act as a priest and hold masses, even after being told to stop multiple times. He was assigned to St. John of Vianney Manor. In 1996, Cipolla wrote to Wuerl multiple times asking for his salary. He was also caught acting as a priest in good standing again.

In 2002, Anthony Cipolla was officially dismissed from the priesthood by the Pope. He continued to say masses and act like a priest. In 2015, he wrote to Bishop Zubik and asked for his retirement as well as a monthly pension and stipend. In early 2016, he was denied this request as he was no longer a priest.
Cipolla died in 2016.

Mr. Pontillo, you can't write anything because you are not privy to any of the aforementioned goings-on with regards
to the Pa Grand Jury or any of the testimony or proof or
findings which they reviewed in its entirety. Leaving no stone unturned they found so much corruption that the Diocese had to step in and appeal to the Supreme Court to "stop" the release of the Grand Juries Findings.  "90" of them Pontillo!!!  Decades of it!!!  We can vouch for 4 decades since 1978. Dirty, dirty underhanded dealings that were covered up by Dollars from the Pittsburgh Diocese.  So many victims ignored or
declared not credible thanks to the cash flow of the Catholic Church.  When will someone stand up for what is right???
I sure can't do it alone.  The Truth Will Set You Free.

You can't write anything Pontillo, because you don't know anything.  You just print what you can glean from other writers who do know a thing or two and you expound on it.  Sometimes turning the whole story upside down.
Did you know Mr. Pontillo, that Randy and I and SWWNBN knew back in 2016 that there was an investigation into the Cipolla Case on why he wasn't sent to prison back in 1978 and 1988-1993?  Now they have the proof.
Cipolla was a crafty old fraud...he taught you well...you're just
like him. πŸ”»( Below from Pontillo's latest blog.)
Yes, a lot is transpiring, right now, . . .

... and I can't write a thing about it, being that I am bound to my promises of confidentiality. I can't even give hints. None the less, I assume that you are slightly familiar with a few of things reported in a newspaper here and a "social media" outlet there which includes the involvement of Cardinal Donald William Wuerl and his co-actors, let us politely say. At this point, there is basically radio silence. However, there is one comment that I can make: There is a massive difference between mercy and weakness. Some people assume feeble weakness, w...

About Me

My photo
Diane Thompson2
I am the mother of the 2 boys who were molested by Father Anthony Cipolla, in Pittsburgh, in 1978. We were strongly persuaded to drop the charges against Fr Cipolla. We were threatened and harassed by some of Fr Cipolla's friends who could not believe this hypocrite should be charged with the molestation of young boys. Many believed a priest just wouldn't do a thing like that....years later they found out many, many priests were guilty of the exact same crime. Just because I was coerced into dropping the charges...does not mean Mr Cipolla was innocent, on the contrary, it just means the Church was able to quelch another scandal by frightening me and my sons. They are very influential. The Church has a reputation to protect. Why would they jeopardize their good name when they had the power to protect it? They weren't going to let one (stupid) priest start something that could start a landslide attack on the Catholic Church. I'm sad to say, they probably waited too long to address the problem. I honestly believe the Church had no clue as to the scale of the betrayers of children.
